Explore Alberta by bike.

Building better routes, a stronger riding community, and a culture of responsible access across the province.

Why ABS exists

Built for the long way around.

Alberta has the landscapes for exceptional bikepacking. What it lacks is a connected route network, reliable information, and a clear voice for the riders who use it.

Alberta Bikepacking Society is being built to change that: developing and sharing quality routes, connecting riders, promoting responsible access and stewardship, and encouraging exploration of the province by bike.

About the Society
Our work

Four pillars. One connected bikepacking province.

ABS focuses its work where it can make the biggest long-term difference for riders and the places they travel through.

01

Routes & Resources

Develop, verify, document and share high-quality bikepacking routes and the information riders need to use them confidently.

02

Community & Participation

Connect Alberta bikepackers and create room for people to ride, race, tour, learn, contribute and explore together.

03

Stewardship & Access

Promote responsible travel through landscapes and communities while supporting sustainable, respectful access.

04

Advocacy & Partnerships

Work with communities, governments, land managers and partners to improve opportunities for bicycle-based exploration.

Route development

A provincial route network, built carefully.

The goal is not simply more GPX files. ABS routes will be documented, maintained and transparent about what riders can expect.

From the field

Bikepacking is more than the route line.

The roads, camps, towns, people and forgotten places are part of the story. ABS will make room for those voices too.

Free routes. Shared knowledge. A community anyone can join.

ABS core routes and resources will remain open to the public. People can contribute by riding, reporting conditions, stewarding routes, writing, volunteering or supporting the work.
